A water model can be an indispensable tool for you to understanding your water system. If you can use a computer to read your email, you can use a water system model to help you operate your system smarter. A computer model can help you reveal the true status of your water system and help operators understand enhancements that will save energy, improve water quality, improve water system performance, and make operating the water system easier.
Free software is available from the Environmental Protection Agency that makes having a water model affordable for utilities of all sizes. By attending this course you will learn how water system operators have used the EPA's software to achieve success in improving their water systems.
Come to this 3-hour course to see how hydraulic modeling can help you improve your water utility operations and enhance customer services. The basics of hydraulic modeling will be presented in the first hour using the EPA’s free modeling software. The training will then delve into how a model can work for you to support many types of applications in distribution system analyses including:
|
· operator training
· energy management
· pump scheduling
· leakage control
· water conservation
· system expansion
· reliability assessment
· valve tracing
· business planning
· asset management
· Sampling program design
|
· master planning
· fire flow assessment
· facility sizing
· operations study
· rehabilitation
· emergency response
· real-time simulation
· sensitivity analysis
· water quality improvement
· source blending
· source tracking
