COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS at Intermountain section events

At AWWA and the Intermountain Section one of our core principals is to Protect Public Health.  That means not only the heath of the general population, but also the health of our members. While efforts to contain COVID-19 continue to evolve, the Intermountain Section AWWA has taken proactive and voluntary steps to help our members and nonmembers have a healthy training experience.

Disinfecting surfaces is one important way to minimize the spread of viruses, according to the CDC and WHO. From training areas to meeting rooms, here are some ways the Section is working to ensure a healthy experience using EPA- and OSHA-approved virus-killing products:

1. Disinfecting surfaces - Section volunteers or staff will wipe down high traffic areas in each training or meeting room with disinfecting wipes.  This will be repeated during the day.
2. Hand sanitizers – The Intermountain Section is putting hand sanitizers on all registration desks at trainings and on each meeting room table.
3. Disinfecting wipes - All participants in training or meetings will have access to disinfecting wipes to clean their own personal spaces.
4. Tissues - Tissues will be provided at the registration table.  We ask that you use tissues if you need to cough or sneeze.  But understand that we request that you stay home or leave the training if you are feeling ill.

Simple personal hygiene including frequent hand washing and not touching one’s eyes, nose or mouth is essential to minimizing the spread of the COVID-19 and other viruses.  Also, keeping your distance from others may help stop the spread of the virus.  We ask that if you feel ill that you stay home.  Also, should you start to feel ill during training please feel free to advise the registration desk and leave the training.
