Participants will be introduced to two systemic tools, PESTEL and Wind Tunnel. PESTEL is a simple strategic planning tool that allows participants to develop potential future scenarios that may impact their program with a systemic view. A wind tunnel is a tool that tests system operations (both internal and external) against various future scenarios developed through the PESTEL.
* By using PESTEL, participants learn how to identify and prioritize potential Political, Environmental, Social, Technological, Economic and Legal futures and stakeholders. PESTEL allows water systems to move beyond basic emergency planning to identify and prioritize futures that may positively and/or negatively impact their efforts to provide safe drinking water to their communities.
* The Wind Tunnel is designed to allow participants to test potential futures that may have a significant impact on their water system. The Wind Tunnel tool is designed to help water systems understand their level of resiliency, reduce future conflict and identify and prioritizes exposures.
