Congratulations
to everyone who participated or contributed to the Section’s annual conference
in Sun Valley. I join the rest of the
Section Board in welcoming Bryan Phinney to the Board as Second Trustee and
Scott Paxman as the incoming Section Director in June, 2014.
I hope you
took the opportunity to meet and talk to Rosemary Smud, our Association
representative attending the conference.
She is one of the two candidates for President-Elect for AWWA in the
elections coming up in January, 2014 during Winter Board meeting. We have been fortunate to have either a
presidential officer or candidate from AWWA attend our section conferences in
the last six or seven years, which speaks highly of our Intermountain Section.
AWWA is
among 12 nonprofit and private water organizations participating in the new
Value of Water Coalition, which is launching a new public education campaign
recently. This new campaign is designed
to address the common challenge we all share: the lack of public understanding
and support for the much-needed investment into water and water infrastructure. You can go to the following website, http://thevalueofwater.org/,
to see some of the initial information being prepared and released. You can use this website as a link from your
website or use information from it for your publications or websites. We are facing these challenges locally on
many levels. I am grateful to be
involved in providing safe and reliable water to the public and industry and am
confident that we can meet these challenges as we diligently work to overcome
the challenges.
