Partnership for Safe Water Awards Luncheon

Monday, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, Invitation only

Outstanding Utility Members of the Intermountain Section will receive an AWWA 2015 Partnership for Safe Water Award at a luncheon in their honor.  These organizations have earned the 15 -Year Director's award for delivering high-quality water throughout their community, Partnership awards are presented for system optimization and performance.

 

  • Central Utah Water Conservancy District – Ashley Valley Water Treatment Plant

  • Central Utah Water Conservancy District – Duchesne Valley Water Treatment Plant

  • Central Utah Water Conservancy District – Utah Valley Water Treatment Plant

  • Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake & Sandy – Little Cottonwood Water Treatment Plant

  • Salt Lake City Public Utilities – Big Cottonwood Treatment Plant

  • Salt Lake City Public Utilities – City Creek Treatment Plant

  • Salt Lake City Public Utilities – Parleys Water Treatment Facility

     

    The Partnership is an unprecedented alliance of six prestigious drinking water organizations. The Partnership's mission is to improve the quality of water delivered to customers by optimizing water system operations. The Partnership offers self-assessment and optimization programs so that operators, managers and administrators have the tools to improve performance above and beyond even proposed regulatory levels.

Meter Madness Competition

Tuesday, 12:30 – 2:30 pm, Exhibit Hall

The fast-paced Meter Madness contest pits competitors against the clock to assemble a water meter from a bucket of parts. Competitors practice year-round to compete at ACE.  This is always fun to watch because the speeds that these folks are able to put the meter together are phenomenal!  Come root for Austin Crane from Herriman City.  Austin was the winner of the local Intermountain Section Meter Madness Competition at the Midyear Conference

Top Ops Competition

Tuesday, 1:00 – 3:00 pm for Preliminary Rounds, Anaheim Convention Center Rooms 303 A/B

Come watch the Section’s team compete in the challenging Top Ops contest which tests the everyday know-how of water treatment operators in a "college bowl" format. Operators and lab technicians display their knowledge and ability to think under pressure as they answer scientific questions and solve math problems. 

 

Our Section will be represented by the team that competed and won at the Section’s Midyear Conference.  They are from Central Utah Water Conservancy District and have practiced hard for this competition.  So, come cheer them on! Team members are:

Leading for Growth Forum: Section Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Celebration

Tuesday, 2:30–4:30 p.m., Anaheim Convention Center Room 303 C-D

Come celebrate with other members of the Intermountain Section at the Awards Celebration.  This year the Intermountain Section has achieved quite a bit of success and are being honored with a 2015 AWWA Section Education Award of Merit for the Leadership Forum Program.  This award is given to Sections with outstanding educational programs.  AWWA President John Donahue will present a certificate of merit and an AWWA Bookstore credit to the Section.

 

Also, there will be a couple of individual awards handed out to Section Staff.  Alane Boyd is the recipient of the Jack W. Hoffbuhr Award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding performance and accomplishments by a Section professional staff member of AWWA. Also, Alane Boyd and Nicole Baser will be given the Diamond Pin Award for membership recruitment.

 

Join us as we celebrate our successes with President John Donahue and honor other AWWA sections and volunteers for innovative education, safety programs, water landmarks, membership recruitment and retention efforts.

 

Fuller Award Breakfast

Wednesday, 7:30 – 9:00 am, Anaheim Marriott Marquis Ballroom North, Ticket Required

Our own Hank Childers with Washington County Water Conservancy District will receive the impressive Fuller Award at a breakfast on Wednesday during the conference.  George Warren Fuller Awards are presented annually by the American Water Works Association to the sections' respective selected members for their distinguished service to the water supply field in commemoration of the sound engineering skill . . . the brilliant diplomatic talent . . . and the constructive leadership which characterized the life of George Warren Fuller.  Thanks go out to Carollo Engineers for sponsoring a table at the breakfast each year so that we can cheer for the Sections awardee!
