ACE 16

ACE 16 was in Chicago. Attendance was great, especially from the Intermountain Section. Thanks for all of your support. There was an overwhelming emphasis on Lead in the drinking water, and a push for utilities to get a handle on identifying their lead service connections and having a plan and schedule to have these services replaced. If not done properly, the work of service replacement may create even more of a health issue and needs to be done as a total service replacement, not just the utility side. Seeking cooperation of the home owner is a must.

I spent a lot of time with some of the international visitors to the convention. There was a strong contingency from Korea, India, Japan and Mexico. Many other countries were represented as well, but there were special sessions with presentations from these four countries. It was amazing to me how technologically advanced Korea and Japan have become in a short amount of time. Some of the other countries are still struggling with the very basic needs and services.

There were over 500 exhibitors this year in the Exhibit hall. It was very obvious to me that research and development is alive and well throughout the industry. They are all doing their best to stay up with the latest technologies as well as improving their products.

It is truly a great time to be involved in the water industry and be a part of the challenges and solutions that keep us moving forward.

Thanks for all you do, both at the Section level and the Association level.
