ACE16 Summary - Nate Rogers

When I was selected to represent the Intermountain Section at the ACE 2016 Fresh Ideas poster session I initially felt intimidated by the size and scale of the national AWWA conference to be held in Chicago. However, once arriving in Chicago and meeting with my conference mentor, Jon Eaton of the Minnesota Section, that intimidation was replaced with excitement for the activities that would soon occur. The next few days consisted of participating in valuable young professional networking events, attending informative technical sessions and seminars, learning about a large variety of industry products at the expo and enjoying the great City of Chicago. It was also an amazing opportunity to present my research to those who attended the Fresh-Idea poster session. It was great to talk to and receive feedback from others who represented so many different fields in the water industry. It was a memorable experience for me to attend ACE 2016 and to participate in a gathering of such a well represented, skilled, and unique group of people. It was an honor to meet these people, who regardless of the scale of the conference and the current issues in the industry, are working together to achieve a common goal. It left me with a strong desire to heed the advice of my conference mentor and others to not hesitate in getting involved. It is my hope that one day I can also be a contributing
